Delhi Police on Friday detained Nadeem Khan, a human rights activist, and about 400 other protestors for raising slogans condemning the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.
The call for protest was given by Friends of Palestine, consisting of individuals from different walks of life. The protest was held to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The peaceful protest was reportedly organized at Jantar Mantar. The protesters included people like Nadeem Khan, Laeeq Ahmed Khan, Inamurrahman Khan, Rizwan Rafeeqi, Nihal Ahmed, and Ramees EK.
According to the information provided by the organizers, more than 2,000 people were protesting at the venue. The protest included people from Varanasi, Haryana, and other neighboring places.
The protesters were forcefully pushed into the buses by the Delhi Police and then taken to different police stations.Meanwhile, the protestors continued raising slogans, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
Reportedly, security personnel, including police women, were deployed at the protest site to disperse protesters from the site and said that the protesters were not permitted to hold the demonstrations.
However, Laeeq Khan claims that they had given a signed application seeking permission for a pro-Palestine protest.

“The detention of peaceful protesters by Delhi police stifles democratic voices and undermines the democratic fabric of India. Citizens have the full right to engage in peaceful protests, and we call for the protection of this fundamental democratic principle,” the organizers said.
Earlier, Peaceful protests have been conducted in support of Palestinians all over India, including places like Ladakh, Kerala, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
