A knock on the gate changed the life of Adnan’s family on the evening of March 3, earlier this month. Adnan, 22, a mechanic by profession, was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbors identified as Lucky (35), Raj (40), and Shubham (32) on the eve of March 3. On the dismal day, Raj knocked at the gate of Adnan’s abode in the Gandhinagar locality, Bhopal, reportedly to ‘have a cordial conversation.’
Little did Adnan know this ‘cordial conversation’ would end his life and he would bid farewell to the world, leaving behind his family to weep. The attack, which occurred near Adnan’s home around 9:30 PM left the family aghast as there was “not a single known reason behind the brutal murder”, Adnan’s Kin who wishes to maintain anonymity told FoEJ Media.
The Kin further revealed that the accused, Raj, arrived at Adnan’s house and called him outside; after that, the other two accused — Lucky and Shubham —joined them, leading to an argument during which one of them stabbed Adnan in the abdomen. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Adnan was declared dead on arrival due to excessive bleeding.
“Adnan went to pray for Taraweeh. After four Rakats, he said he’s going home and will be right back. When he reached home Raj was present there and he took him outside to talk… Shortly after, Shubha and Lucky also arrived… In the darkness of the night, they stabbed him, and he died there.” Adnan’s kin revealed.
“Adnan and his father, Abdul Jalal, were alone in the house when arrived…Everyone in the family was at the nearby mosque to offer Tarawee,” the kin added.
Following the incident, the family immediately went to the police station and filed an FIR. As claimed by the kin , the police responded quickly, arresting Shubham and Lucky, while Raj managed to flee and is currently absconding.
“The police have been very supportive; they immediately registered the complaint and sent two of the accused to jail. They are also searching for the third person, Raj. They regularly call us to discuss matters related to the case and are providing full support,” he said.
Love Trap or Rumor?
Reports say that the trio stabbed Adnan as he fancied Shubham’ s sister, however Adnan’s kin claims it to be a rumor.
“It’s not about any girl, no past story, no future story—it’s all just rumors” his kin said. However, he added that if such information exists, it would come to light upon the arrest of the third suspect, Raj. “If it were a matter involving a girl, the ones who have been arrested would have given statements. However, the third accused has not been arrested yet; when he is, the full details will come to light.” he said.
When questioned about the motive behind the gruesome murder, he stated that the “family remains unaware of any reason”, as there was no known conflict or bad blood among the four —Lucky, Raj, Shubha, and Adnan.
Meanwhile, as locals claimed and Journalist Mariyam Usmani, TwoCircles.net reported, “the right-wing organizations are encouraging their members to target Muslim women. When Adnan learned about Shubham’s alleged plan to manipulate a young Muslim girl from the area, he contacted her family to warn them. The situation was later misrepresented through false rumors to protect the perpetrators.”
Rejecting the rumors that claimed Adnan fancied Shubham’s sister, Adnan’s sibling told Mariyam Usmani “This was not about ‘love jihad.’ My brother did not know any Hindu girl from Shubham’s family. What happened here was a Bhagwa love conspiracy, and Adnan opposed it because of him being a Muslim. He was aware of several such cases happening in our area, and he wanted to stop it. He had no personal vendetta — only a sense of duty.”
