Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament, Sunny Deol, has recently found himself in the midst of a huge financial challenge. The Bank of Baroda has served him a notice in connection with dues pending of more than Rs 55 crore.
The notice, which was published by the bank in a newspaper, indicated that Deol’s bungalow in Juhu, known as Sunny Villa, would be e-auctioned due to non-payment of dues. The auction was initially slated for September 25.
According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, Bank of Baroda released an advertisement for the auction and mentioned that the recovery of the loan is Rs 55 crore and interest.
The reserve price for the auction was set at Rs 51.43 crore. The advertisement named Ajay Singh Deol aka Sunny Deol as the borrower and his father Dharmendra as guarantor.
Sunny Villa is located at Gandhi Gram Road in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu neighborhood. Apart from being a residential property, it also houses Sunny Sounds, which is owned by the Deols and is the corporate guarantor to the loan.
The property is a 5-storey building spread over 600 square meters and includes a basement, movie theatre, production office, and terrace garden.
However, in an unexpected turn of events, just a day after issuing the auction notice, the Bank of Baroda withdrew it citing ‘technical reasons. According to the bank’s statement, Sunny Deol had approached them to settle the dues.
The bank also mentioned that the total dues did not specify the exact quantum of dues to be recovered and that an application for physical possession of the property was still pending
Now, as Sunny Deol navigates this situation, his actions will likely be closely watched by both his fans and well wishers. Actor Sunny Deol recently took the box office by fire when his film Gadar 2 achieved remarkable numbers.
