AAP Accuses BJP Leaders of Dual Voting in Delhi and Bihar; Party Denies Allegations

Date:

The Aam Aadmi Party has launched a fresh jab at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of “vote theft.” The party claimed that the BJP leaders voted in both the Delhi and Bihar Assembly elections this year. Despite the Election Commission of India’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive aimed at eliminating duplicate entries and ensuring cleaner electoral rolls, duplication in voter lists continues to persist. Meanwhile, the BJP leader Sinha clarified that he had shifted his vote from Delhi to his hometown, which lies in Bihar.

“My name was in the Delhi voter list. Due to my active involvement in Bihar’s politics, I got my name changed to Manser Pur (Begusarai) village. Should I file a defamation case for this accusation?” Sinha said in his post.

At a press conference, AAP’s Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj accused senior BJP leaders—Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha, Delhi BJP Purvanchal Morcha president Santosh Ojha, and party functionary Nagendra Kumar—of casting their votes twice, alleging a serious breach of electoral integrity.

“The Election Commission had promised that after the SIR, no voter could remain registered in two states. Then how did these BJP leaders manage to vote again in Bihar? Even the BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha president is voting in two states. Imagine the scale of vote theft that must be happening across the country,” Bharadwaj said.

“I followed the due process for deletion of my name from the voter list of Delhi and getting enrolled as a voter from Bihar, as I had plans to contest the Assembly polls from Buxar,” he said, and the PTI quoted.

Meanwhile, the AAP leader questioned, “The Election Commission had assured that after the SIR, no one registered in another state could vote in Bihar. Then how did this happen?”

“How many more BJP workers have travelled from different states to cast their votes in Bihar today?” he added.

“Baseless and morally contested allegations are being leveled against me by liars and morally degraded leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, and their ilk. My name is only on Bihar’s electoral roll. It was earlier in Delhi’s electoral roll, and I got it deleted through a procedure established by law,” said Sinha on X.
