The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted its final chargesheet in the Tirupati laddu adulteration case and found that there was no beef tallow in the ghee used to make laddu prasadam between 2019 and 2024, as per the reports of the Indian Express.
The chargesheet, filed on 23 January, said that the ghee used for laddu preparations was adulterated with vegetable oils. Laboratory-created esters were used to chemically replicate dairy parameters.
The controversy unfolded in the year 2024, when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan alleged that the laddoos offered at the Tirumala Venkateswara temple were adulterated with “animal fat.”
Following petitions and mounting concerns, the Supreme Court stepped in in October 2024, resulting in the formation of a CBI Special Investigation Team to probe the matter.

Among those chargesheeted are RSSVR Subrahmanyam, former General Manager (Procurement) at TTD, who is accused of clearing tenders from a blacklisted supplier, and Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, a private dairy consultant, alleged to have submitted misleading inspection reports.
