Lokesh Singla, a cow vigilante and one of the accused in the 2023 lynching of two Muslim men, Nasir and Junaid, in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, allegedly died by suicide on June 5. A video message, reportedly sent to his wife via WhatsApp before his death, accused senior Bajrang Dal leaders of mental harassment and threats.
The video, which has since gone viral, names three individuals whom Singla accuses of stalking, intimidation, and attempting to frame him in false cases. “These men are harassing me, sending people to follow me, and trying to implicate me in fabricated cases,” he is heard saying.
Singla’s body was found near railway tracks along the Agra-Palwal route. Following a complaint by his wife, an FIR was filed on Tuesday, invoking charges of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy. The three men named in the video have been booked.
Rajesh Kumar Chechi, Deputy Superintendent of the Government Railway Police in Faridabad, confirmed that an investigation is underway. “We will examine all the allegations. The body has been handed over to the family after a post-mortem,” he said.
