The sixth phase of voting in the ongoing Lok Sabha election has begun in 58 seats across seven states and one union territory. Delhi and Haryana are voting in a single phase.
A voter turnout percentage of 34.37% was recorded in Delhi as of 1 p.m, The highest turnover was recorded at Northeast Delhi with 37.31% while the lowest was recorded in New Delhi at 31.6%.
The seven Lok Sabha constituencies where polling is underway are Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, and South Delhi.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi cast their votes in the Capital. After voting, Kejriwal said, “People are voting in large numbers against dictatorship, inflation and unemployment.”
Reportedly, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, people rejected lies, hatred and propaganda and gave priority to the real life issues in the fifth phase of general election and have urged people to come out and vote in the sixth phase.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated Kuldeep Kumar from the East Delhi seat, Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi, Somnath Bharti from New Delhi and Sahi Ram Pahalwan from South Delhi. The Congress has filed J.P. Agarwal from the Chandni Chowk seat, Kanhaiya Kumar from North East Delhi and Udit Raj from the North West Delhi constituency.
The BJP candidates are Manoj Tiwari from North East Delhi, the only sitting MP from Delhi fielded by the party again; Ramvir Singh Bidhuri from South Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi, Harsh Deep Malhotra from East Delhi, Yogendra Chandolia from North West Delhi, Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk and Kamaljeet Sehrawat from West Delhi.
