Miss Arunachal’s Brother died by Suicide Allegedly after being Ragged by School Seniors

Date:

A seven-standard boy identified as Tado Haro, brother of Lunia Tadu, Miss Arunachal 2024, died by suicide allegedly after being ragged in his hostel dormitory by a group of eleven students, eight of whom belonged to standard tenth and three to standard eighth.

“On the 1st of November, my brother was declared not alive. The school authority informed us that he was missing from morning PT, and when they started looking for him, they found his body a few 100 meters away from the school building, in the school campus,” Lunia Tadu, Miss Arunachal Pradesh said.

“It has been assumed that he has committed suicide,” she added.

When the family went to the school to collect Haro’s belongings, they were informed by his dormitory mates that the entire dormitory of grade 7 was ragged by eleven seniors the night before Haro allegedly committed suicide.

Later, everyone, apart from Haro, was told to put the blanket on their face and not see what followed.

The students told Haro’s family that the group allegedly took Haro to the class 10th dormitory, where he was ragged, mentally and physically harassed, and forced to write on a paper that he “was a thief and has stolen books of seniors.”

“His roommates do not know when or if he came back from the 10th standard dormitory,” Miss Arunachal Pradesh said.

He was also allegedly threatened that his video will be made viral in the school, saying how Miss Arunachal’s brother is doing such low things like stealing.

“I never imagined my name would be a burden for my brother,” Miss Arunachal Pradesh said, with tears in her eyes.

Lunia stated that CCTV footage reviewed by the investigating officer captured her brother pacing nervously in the dormitory around 5:45 a.m., before walking into a classroom where he reportedly wrote his final note.

“His last words were, ‘Seniors tortured me a lot, and I don’t know what I will do now’,” she said.

According to police, the case—first registered at Ruksin Police Station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—was reclassified after the cadet’s father lodged an additional FIR on November 3, accusing senior students of ragging.

Taking to the social media platform, Miss Arunachal informed about the death of his brother. The investigation is underway.
