Criticism has been kindled ahead of a viral video demonstrating a team of Indian men raising slogans like “Jai Maharashtra, Jai Shiv Sena, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai” near a street performer in Paris.
The incident recorded on camera, which took place in the crowded Montmartre area of Paris, the French capital, shows a man wrapping his arms around the mime performer and raising slogans, leading to an accompaniment. However, the mime performer is ostensibly uncomfortable, gesturing them to stop, a request that ultimately fails as the Indian citizens continue with their slogans.
“Indian tourists’ stupidity in Paris. They also harassed a street performer who was peacefully performing his art. The artist stopped them from shouting slogans like “Jai Maharashtra, Jai Shivaji” & from making reels with him, all without any respect for his space. Shameful!” uploaded writer Suraj Kumar Bauddh onX
Outrage by Netizens
The viral video has raised questions on the civic sense, public conduct abroad, and the appropriateness of overt displays of nationalism in public spaces, urging netizens to take to social media platforms and express their outrage.

Another user labels it as “misconduct by some Indians in Paris.”
“Thnx to cheap creeps like them… It’s very embarrassing,” a user posted.
Slamming the act, a user said, “Keep these chants/slogans limited to your state. Spending lakhs and going on a foreign trip only to engage in this embarrassing behavior gives India a bad name. Nobody gives a hoot to your slogans there. It doesn’t make you a hero.”
