A 39-year-old Indian man from Bihar has died in Saudi Arabia under circumstances that have raised serious concerns among his family, who are demanding a clear and impartial investigation.
Faiyaz Alam, who had been living in Tabarak City in Riyadh’s Garara district, was reportedly found hanging, according to information conveyed to his relatives. The details surrounding his death remain unclear, prompting questions about what may have led to the incident.
The matter surfaced after Alam’s family in India spoke out, alleging that they had lost contact with him some time before being informed of his death. They have also expressed frustration over what they describe as limited communication and a lack of transparency regarding the case.
According to the family, Alam had travelled to Saudi Arabia for a different job but was instead employed as a goat herder upon arrival, earning a monthly salary of 1,000 Saudi riyals. They suspect that key information may be withheld and have voiced concerns about the role of his local sponsor.
Seeking answers, the family has appealed to residents in the Tabarak City and Garara areas to come forward with any information that could help clarify the circumstances of his death.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has acknowledged the case and extended condolences. Officials have asked the family to provide documents such as Alam’s passport and Iqama details, along with information about his employer or local contacts, to assist in further inquiry. The Consulate General of India in Jeddah is also involved in the follow-up process.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the risks faced by migrant workers abroad, particularly in cases where employment conditions differ from what was originally promised. The family continues to call for a thorough and time-bound investigation to establish the facts.
