With the surge in the consistency of mob lynching of minorities in India, another barbaric incident has been unleashed in Kahrgone. Hafiz Mohsin (35), along with his neighbor’s kid identified as Mustafa, was out of his house to give an amulet to one of his visitors, Bharti (35), when they were lynched by a trio belonging to a Hindutva group. The trio reportedly hit Hafiz Mohson and Mustafa with stones and caused them grave injuries.
The incident took place in the late hours of Monday, around 11:00 PM. The family claims that Hafiz Mohsin was lynched because of his “identity.”

Bharti, a mother of two, has reportedly been visiting Hafiz Mohsin for an amulet for the past two years. On the night of the incident, due to the darkness, Hafiz Mohsin and his neighbor’s child, Mustafa, went to Bharti’s home to deliver the amulet. According to eyewitness accounts, three individuals from a Hindutva group attacked Mohsin and Mustafa.
Hafiz Mohsin and the child were subsequently taken to the government hospital in Khargone, where they were reportedly given first aid. According to Hafiz Mohsin’s father, “Hafiz received 14-15 stitches on his head, while Mustafa sustained 7-8 stitches.”

He further alleged that members of the Bharatiya Janata Party have been reportedly pressuring Bharti to provide a false statement against Hafiz Mohsin.
“The BJP is pressuring Bharti to give a false statement against Hafiz Mohsin,” said Hafiz Mohsin’s father.
The father further alleged that the attack was premeditated, as the holy month of Ramadan is approaching and Hafiz Mohsin was scheduled to recite Taraweeh prayers.
“This was their plan; as Ramadan is approaching, they have targeted him,” the father said.

However, as claimed by the family, an FIR has been filed against the three attackers, and the police are currently searching for them.
“This is the first time such an incident has occurred, and Hafiz Mohsin does not have a history of enmity,” the father further said.
Hafiz Mohsin’s sister, however, alleges that his attackers have a history of similar violence, claiming they routinely throw stones at Muslim funeral processions passing through the area at night.
