Kunal Kamra has yet again made headlines wrapped in fresh controversy as he shared a photo on social media wearing a T-shirt that allegedly ridicules the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), prompting a strong reaction from the BJP.
Ahead of the post, Maharashtra minister and senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar warned that the police would take action against the uploading of “objectionable” content online.
“The police would take action against anyone who puts out such objectionable posts,” Bawankule said.
Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Shirsat, whose party partners with the BJP, said the national saffron party should issue a strong response to the comedian’s contentious post, noting that Kamra has previously made harsh comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
“Earlier, he targeted Prime Minister Modi and Eknath Shinde, and now he has dared to directly attack the RSS. The BJP needs to respond to this,” Shirsat said.
“We (Shiv Sena) responded to it (to Kamra’s critical comments on Shinde earlier this year). Now, he has mustered the courage to make an objectionable post against the RSS,” he added.
In March earlier this year, the young comedian took a jibe at the political career of Shinde through a song in his show at Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai; the hotel was later vandalized by the hotel.
Following the latest controversy, a defiant Kamra wrote on social media that the photo referencing the RSS was not taken “at a comedy club.”
