Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed authorities to declare a holiday for schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts on October 15 due to the meteorological department’s forecast of heavy rainfall.
On October 14, the chief minister reviewed the state’s monsoon preparedness and instructed authorities to issue an advisory permitting IT employees in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts to work from home from October 15 to 18.
990 Water Pumps Deployed
Officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation announced the deployment of 990 water pumps, 57 tractors fitted with pump sets, and 36 mechanized boats to address emergency situations. Additionally, approximately 170 fully equipped relief centers are currently operational to assist those affected by the flooding.
