At least 10 people have been reportedly wounded in a mass shooting outside a nightclub in New York’s Queens on Wednesday night. The shooting was reported to take place around 11:20 pm near the Amazura nightclub.
As reported by the New York Police Department (NYPD) none of the victims are in a critical condition and all of them are expected to survive. For treatment they have been taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen’s Children Medical Center.
There were around 80 people gathered outside the Amazura club for a private party in honour of a known gang member who died last year, waiting to get inside when the incident took place, the AMNY reported.
A mass shooting occurred alongside a tragic incident in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, where at least 15 people were killed and dozens more injured after a U.S. Army veteran, 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, drove his pickup truck into a crowd. Jabbar was shot and killed in a confrontation with police during a gunfight.
U.S. law enforcement officials confirmed that after identifying Shamsud Din Jabbar, it was revealed that he was carrying an ISIS flag during the deadly attack, which they classified as an “act of terrorism.”
While the identities of most victims have not been publicly released, family members or associates have identified at least four of those who were killed.
In a separate incident, a Tesla Cybertruck parked outside the Las Vegas hotel of U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump exploded, resulting in the death of one person who was standing near the vehicle’s door. Reports indicated that fireworks, gas tanks, and camp fuel were found inside the truck.
U.S. President Joe Biden stated that law enforcement is examining any potential links between the New Orleans attack and the Tesla Cybertruck explosion, as both vehicles were reportedly rented from the same car-sharing service, Turo. “We’re tracking the explosion of a Cybertruck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well, including whether there’s any possible connection with the attack in New Orleans,” Biden said.
