Tension gripped in a locality in Saharanpur after a Muslim man was brutally assaulted when he went to a private school to complain about the alleged molestation of his daughter by a student. The incident of videos of which have since made rounds on social media, has errupted outrage among locals and community leaders, as reported by the Muslim Mirror.
According to the victim’s family, the father had approached the school principal demanding action against the accused student. Instead of addressing the complaint, the principal allegedly summoned outsiders, who then attacked the man on school premises. He reportedly sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a district hospital.
The girl, a student of the school, claimed she had repeatedly complained of harassment but was ignored by the management. Relatives of the victim accused the principal of siding with the accused and failing to protect the child.
The principal, however, denied orchestrating the assault. He said the accused boy had been expelled once his misconduct came to light. The family dismissed this version as “fabricated,” accusing him of trying to shield himself and the student.
The incident has triggered anger across Saharanpur, with activists and community leaders condemning the school’s handling of the case. “If a father is beaten for raising concerns about his daughter’s safety, how can we trust our children are secure in such institutions?” one community leader asked as reported by the Muslim Mirror.
On social media, users criticised the principal’s alleged actions and raised questions of bias. “Why didn’t the school call the police? Was the father attacked because he is Muslim?” one post read, with many others calling the assault a hate-driven crime. Police have yet to confirm details of the attack or whether an investigation has been launched.
