Lalu Prasad Yadav and his daughter Misa Bharti reached the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) office in Patna on Monday in connection with the alleged scam. Outside the office, RJD workers staged protests, accusing the central government of targeting their leader to disrupt election strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
RJD MP Manoj Jha accused the BJP of politically targeting their rivals through government agencies, stating, “This is not an ED summon, but a BJP summon… This will go on till 2024, till then please do not call it ED summons… Why should we be scared?”
Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chowdhary defended the BJP’s actions, claiming corruption was deeply rooted in the RJD. He urged Tejashwi Yadav to reveal the system of becoming millionaires within a short period.
A Delhi court on Saturday summoned Rabri Dev, wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with her daughter Hema Yadav and others to appear before it on February 9 in connection with the alleged land-for-job scam. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a chargesheet in the money laundering probe, accusing Lalu Yadav and his family members.
The alleged land-for-jobs scam occurred during Lalu Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister, from 2004 to 2009. The CBI had filed charges in October of the previous year, naming Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and 13 others in the scandal, alleging land was taken as a bribe in exchange for jobs within the Railways. The investigation continues as the political landscape in Bihar undergoes significant changes.
Past Events:
In a hearing earlier this month, the Enforcement Directorate had pointed out that the “string was in the hands of the main accused in the CBI offence, Lalu Yadav and his family.” The probe revolves around the alleged exchange of land for job appointments in the Indian Railways between 2004 and 2009.
“The matter is of seven land parcels. Accusations against Rabri Devi are for three land parcels, Hima Yadav for two parcels, and Misa Bharti for one,” stated the ED, alleging that Rs 50 lakhs were infused into AB Export through Tejashwi Yadav, another member of the Yadav family.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a chargesheet in the money laundering probe, accusing Lalu Yadav and his family members.
During the hearing held earlier in the day, the Rouse Avenue Court acknowledged the chargesheet, highlighting the presence of sufficient material to warrant further action. Notably, the court also summoned Amit Katyali, an alleged close aide of the Yadav family, and former railway employee Hridayanand Chaudhary.
This development comes at a time when Bihar is facing a political crisis, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reportedly aiming to sever ties with the RJD and form a new government with the support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
