Women Try to Hold Puja at Fatehpur Mausoleum, Confrontation Erupts with Police

Date:

Tension gripped at the tomb of Nawab Abdul Samad in Uttar Pradesh as women allegedly linked to a Hindu organization attempted to conduct worship in a manner allegedly resembling the Babri Masjid incidents.

As per the reports, the women on the occasion of Dev Diwali arrived at the historic tomb and claimed it to be a temple, reportedly raising slogans and performing rituals. Meanwhile, the police, fearing a breach of peace, stepped in to prevent the activity.

“The women forcibly tried to perform worship at the tomb, which is a protected historic site,” said a senior police “officer, as reported by the Clarion media.

“When we tried to stop them, they misbehaved with the authorities and obstructed our work. We have registered an FIR against 20 women to ensure law and order is maintained,” the officer added.

A video of these women has made rounds on the internet, where they can be seen engaged in an altercation with security personnel; however, officials said its authenticity has not yet been verified.

“Despite repeated requests, the women tried to force their way inside and even threatened the police with false cases,” said a senior officer, as reported by the Hindustan Times.

FIR Registered

The Hindustan Times further reported that the Kotwali SHO Tarkeshwar Rai said an FIR was lodged against the women, including Padmaja Singh Chauhan, under sections 352, 121(1), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The contested site has remained under tight security since a violent confrontation on August 11, when a large crowd breached barricades and vandalized the property following appeals from local Hindu organizations. The incident prompted the filing of an FIR against over 170 individuals, including prominent leaders associated with the BJP and RSS, such as Abhishek Shukla, Ashish Tripathi, and Pappu Singh Chauhan.
