Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi of resettling Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in the Okhla area of South Delhi.
At a rally in Delhi’s Mangolpuri, Yogi Adityanath accused the AAP of committing a “sin” by settling Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators in Okhla, PTI reported.
Adityanath claimed that civic amenities and infrastructure in Delhi had deteriorated, prompting residents to move to Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh in search of better facilities.
In yet anotter case, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister criticized the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government over the pollution in the Yamuna river.
While traveling from Ghaziabad to Delhi, Adityanath remarked, “The Yamuna, once a symbol of faith, now emits a foul, sewer-like smell. The people suffering due to the sins of the AAP government in Delhi will soon be freed. The only solution is the formation of a BJP government in Delhi,” ANI quoted him as saying.
Adityanath challenged the AAP government, saying, “If you had moral courage, you would have taken a dip in the Yamuna, along with the ministers of your government,” referencing his own recent dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj during the ongoing Maha Kumbh.
Elections for the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly are set for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. A total of 699 candidates are vying for the 70 seats. The AAP aims for a third consecutive term in power, having won 67 and 62 seats in the 2015 and 2020 elections, while the BJP secured just three and eight seats in the same polls.
The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has faced significant setbacks in the past two assembly elections, failing to secure any seats.
