Yogi Adityanath Orders Strict ID Checks Amid Action Against Suspected Rohingya Settlers

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has urged the people to stay alert, as he has taken strict action against the Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators who are living illegally in different parts of Uttar Pradesh. 

“The security of Uttar Pradesh, social harmony, and robust law and order are our utmost priority. Strict and decisive action has been initiated against Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators illegally residing in the state,” he wrote. He added, “I appeal to the vigilant public of the state to remain alert and ensure the identity verification of any individual before employing them.” CM Yogi said in a post on X 

He has also urged the citizens to verify the identity of individuals before hiring them for work and scrutinize them properly before hiring people.

Yogi Adityanath stressed that ensuring the state’s safety is a collective responsibility, remarking that “security is the foundation of prosperity.” He urged residents to cooperate with authorities and remain vigilant to safeguard Uttar Pradesh’s social harmony and overall security architecture.

A week-long Special Verification Drive Unfolded 

In yet another incident, there was a week-long special verification drive that targeted the Rohingaya, Bangladeshi,Rohingya, and other immigrants living in the district. The drive was launched by the Varanasi Police Commissionerate. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Kashi Zone, Gaurav Banswal, said teams have been deployed across Varanasi to identify individuals living in makeshift settlements or working as hawkers without valid documents. The drive, which began on Saturday, aims to trace those residing illegally and initiate action under the relevant laws.

“In the seven-day verification campaign, police teams are checking hutment clusters and roadside vendors. After verification, individuals found residing illegally will face strict and effective legal action as per rules,” Banswal said.

Special teams have been formed by all station house officers to conduct intensive checks in their respective jurisdictions. A special verification operation in Koirjapur was conducted by the Additional DCP of the Gomti Zone, Vaibhav Bangar. The teams checked the identities, backgrounds, and documents of hutment dwellers, hawkers, and other suspected individuals. Officials said photographs and complete personal details of every person checked were recorded in designated forms.
