Four men, who were arrested for vandalizing mosques in Tauru town in Haryana’s Nuh district, were released on bail on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Vishal, Ajay, Sanjay, and Jaiprakash alias Bhola, were among seven people arrested by the local police between August 4 and 5. Another accused, Manish, was released on bail a day earlier, on Tuesday, according to an India Today report.
The incident occurred two days after communal violence broke out in Nuh on July 31. Two mosques in Tauru were set on fire by a group of men. The violence erupted after a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession was attacked by a mob, leading to the death of six people, including two home guards and a cleric. The incident drew nationwide outrage and led to communal disharmony in the areas adjoining Nuh.
The issue has also been politicized by several parties. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij stated on Tuesday that based on the investigation, it appears that perhaps the Congress had a hand in last month’s violence in Nuh. Vij also said that Haryana police will seek help from central agencies to investigate a possible Pakistani angle in the incident.
“Many angles” such as the attack on the cyber police station there are being looked into, the minister said. “Many videos and photos were shared from Pakistan,” he added.
However, an investigation into the clashes is currently underway.
