A drone that reportedly targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence exploded in Caesarea earlier today, according to leading Israeli media outlets. The drone was intercepted by security forces and subsequently struck an unspecified home. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that three drones infiltrated Israeli airspace from Lebanon within the past hour. Two of the drones were successfully intercepted, while one struck a building in Caesarea.
Sirens were activated in the Glilot area; however, officials have assured that there is no ongoing threat. An investigation into the incident is currently in progress.
The Prime Minister’s Office has confirmed that the private residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea was targeted in a drone attack from Lebanon earlier this morning.
In a brief statement, the Prime Minister’s Office indicated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, were not at home during the attack, and no injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
The recent strikes into Israel mark an unprecedented escalation amid the intensifying conflict with Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed group allied with Hamas, in recent weeks.
Hezbollah announced on Friday its intention to initiate a new phase of combat by deploying additional guided missiles and explosive drones into Israel. The militant group’s longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in late September, and Israel has since deployed ground troops into Lebanon earlier this month.
A standoff is developing between Israel and Hamas, as both sides indicate a refusal to end the conflict following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar this week.
On Friday, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, described the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar as a painful loss but emphasized that Hamas has persisted despite the deaths of other Palestinian militant leaders in the past.
“Hamas is alive and will stay alive,” Khamenei said.
