A horrifying incident of rape and torture has shaken the city of Delhi, as a man is arrested for subjecting a woman to unspeakable horrors. The details of the victim’s unfortune, which lasted over a week, have now been disclosed by the police, shedding light on the brutality she endured.
The victim, hailing from Darjeeling, West Bengal, found herself in a nightmare scenario as she was allegedly raped and tortured by the accused, Paras, over a period of seven days. The ordeal included brutal beatings and torment, with one particularly gruesome act involving the pouring of hot lentils. The victim had been residing with Paras for about a month and was subjected to unimaginable suffering within a rented residence in Raju Park, south Delhi.
The harrowing incident came to light on January 30, when the Neb Sarai police station received a distress call reporting a woman being assaulted. Upon examination, the victim was found to have 20 injury marks on her body and was immediately hospitalized at AIIMS. Although she has since been discharged, the psychological scars of the distress remain.
How it all happened?
Paras, the accused, aged 28 and originally from Uttarakhand, was employed as a cook at a local eatery. The victim, originally from Darjeeling, had established contact with Paras over the phone and had been in communication with him for several months. Despite being on her way to Bengaluru for a job opportunity as a housemaid, she decided to halt in Delhi to meet Paras, who had helped in finding employment.
Trusting in Paras’s assurances, the victim accepted his invitation to stay with him. However, what began as an act of friendship soon turned into a nightmare as Paras allegedly began physically assaulting her and subjecting her to sexual abuse. In one instance, he reportedly poured hot lentils over her, resulting in burn injuries.
Upon the victim’s complaint, an FIR was lodged on January 30 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. This led to Paras’s arrest on February 2, where he was charged with rape, sodomy, and causing bodily harm. The arrest marks a step towards justice for the victim, although the emotional scars of her ordeal may take much longer to heal.
