A 28-year-old Dalit woman in the Sushant Golf City police station area accused seven people of raping her after kidnapping, when she was going to purchase medicine in the area on Saturday. Anwar Ruyani, a resident of Katra Baksa and allegedly the main accused in the crime, was arrested by a police unit. Reportedly, the accused beat up the woman and snatched away her cell phone.
After she was let off, she remained in trauma for hours, and later at night, the woman went to the police station with a complaint. The police registered a case under various sections, including gang rape, and started searching for the accused.
According to the details, at noon, Anwar and his six other companions caught her near Khurdahi market. Furthermore, the accused dragged her to a garden, and the gang raped her. They thrashed her when she protested and snatched her phone.
The family of the victim lodged a complaint against the accused at the Sushant Golf City police station. ADCP South, Shashank Singh, said that Anwar’s house was raided and he was caught. The victim is still in shock. “We could not talk to her much,” the police said, and TOI reported.
“We are raiding all possible hideouts of others named in the case,” said the officer.
Another Incident, Another Dalit Girl Raped
Another shocking rape incident happened this year on June 23, where a 13-year-old Dalit girl was brutally killed and burned in Haridwar. Later, police arrested six persons, including a close acquaintance of a “now expelled” senior functionary of the ruling party and also a member of the state OBC commission, Aditya Raj Saini.
Reportedly, on the night of June 23, the girl went to meet her male friends when her friend with the other three—all aged between 19 and 20—raped her and allegedly threatened her to remain silent.
Later, the girl narrated the incident to her neighbor, Amit Saini, who, instead of helping her, raped her. When she resisted, he brutally thrashed her, due to which she suffered fatal head injuries.
Dalit Girl Raped by Same Person Twice
Another rape incident that made the headlines was the case of a Dalit girl who was raped by the same person twice, which the police ignored the first time.
In the evening of December 31, 2021, a minor Dalit girl was playing outside her home when village resident Satish told her that her father was calling her to Arun’s house. reads the first information report (FIR) for the gang rape of a Dalit minor registered at the police station Maurava in Unnao in central Uttar Pradesh.
She trusted him and went to Arun’s house, where three five men identified as Roshan, Sukhdin, Arun, Ranjit, and Satish were present. First, Roshan raped her. Then, Satish. Then, everyone took turns raping her, the FIR said.
The FIR showed the Uttar Police registered it on 2 May 2023, one year and four months after five men—four men from the Dalit community and one from the other backward classes (OBC)—allegedly raped the minor on 31 December 2021.
