The capital of India woke up to another blanket of toxic air with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of over 440 ‘severe’ category at around 7 am while the stage 4 anti pollution curbs under the Graded response Action Plan are in effect.
As reported by the Hindustan Times, out of 37 monitoring stations which are listed on the Sameer app. These provide hourly updates on the National Air Quality Index, the AQI at 21 stations measured the severe plus category on Tuesday morning.
Station with Worst AQI
The stations that recorded the worst AQI are: Nehru Nagar (480), Alipur (471), Anand Vihar (481), CRRI Mathura Road (468), Jahangirpuri (468), and Rohini (466)
What AQI are Good and what are Bad?
As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “good,” 51-100 “satisfactory,” 101-200 “moderate,” 201-300 “poor,” 301-400 “very poor,” 401-450 “severe,” and above 450 “severe plus.”
The deteriorating air quality of Delhi, prompted the authorities to impose Stage 4 of GRAP on Monday night. Stage 4 includes restrictions on construction activities and the entry of trucks into the city.
