New Delhi/Bhopal: Digvijaya Singh, a prominent Congress leader’s recent statement about the BJP sparked a heated debate and significant response from within the party.
Digvijaya Singh, former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, claimed on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party government was preparing “Nuh-like violence” in the State in the upcoming assembly elections.
Prior to the assembly elections, Singh claimed that the BJP was planning to inflame communal tensions in Madhya Pradesh. He drew comparisons to their alleged role in planning violent occurrences in Nuh, Haryana.
Addressing a congregation of lawyers from across the state, Digvijaya said, “Never in my life did I see the kind of injustice and oppression that this government has inflicted on the minority community. And I am getting information that they are making a scheme. Just as they executed communal riots in Haryana’s Nuh, they have a design to have riots here. This is because the BJP understands that people in the state are angry with them.”
Singh went on to claim that the BJP’s motivations for doing such acts derive from their belief that they will lose the upcoming elections. He claimed, “The BJP knows there is a lot of resentment against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the state”
He stated, “Hopefully, we are going to form the next government in the state,” expanding on the goals of his party.
21 candidates for the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly and 39 candidates for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh House have already been announced by the BJP.
Earlier this month, violent clashes occurred in Haryana’s Nuh, resulting in the loss of six lives, including two home guards and a mosque cleric. The conflict initially erupted in the wake of Vishva Hindu Parishad procession and subsequently escalated to Gurugram, Palwal, and other districts, leading to the destruction of numerous vehicles, eateries, and shops by unruly mobs.
