Hamas launches first rocket attack in six months on Tel Aviv and other cities
Air raid sirens were heard across the central part of the country, followed by explosions from the Iron Dome, which intercepted rockets.
The armed wing of Hamas, the al-Qassam Brigades, announced this Sunday a large rocket attack against Tel Aviv and other central cities in the first half of the year as part of the Gaza War.
“We fired a large volley of rockets at Tel Aviv in response to the Zionist massacre of civilians,” the brigades said in a statement on their Telegram channel this Sunday.
The attack on Tel Aviv and other nearby cities is the first since Israel’s new offensive on Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip, which displaced hundreds of thousands of people.
Air raid sirens were heard in Tel Aviv and other nearby cities, followed by explosions from Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system, which intercepted the rockets.
Emergency services reported that shrapnel fell in several places, including the city of Ranana, north of Tel Aviv, and the cities of Petah Tikva and Bnei Brak. Currently, only one person has been reported slightly injured while running for shelter, although the location of the incident has not been determined.
With this attack, Hamas shows that despite more than seven months of air and ground attacks by the Israeli army, it can still fire long-range missiles.
