A national delegation of the Indian Union Muslim League met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren the state’s Chief Minister on Thursday. The delegation was reportedly led by National Organizing Secretary and MP E.T. Mohammed BasheerThe discussions focused on addressing the pressing issues faced by the Muslim minority in Jharkhand, as the delegation sought government intervention to resolve long-standing challenges faced by the community.
Shahbaz, Muslim League student wing national secretary on speaking to FoEJ Media said, “the meeting was conducted to discuss the matters related to muslim minorities in Jharkhand.”
The delegation reportedly raised concerns over the long-pending Mob Lynching Bill, which has been awaiting amendments for nearly two years. They urged the state government to expedite the revisions and forward the bill to the Governor for approval.
The delegation also emphasized the need for the Jharkhand government to establish a Madrassa Board, Urdu Academy, and Minority Directorate under Section 85 of the Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2000. They further called for the appointment of a director for the Minority Finance Development Corporation to ensure better representation and support for minority communities in the state.
“Under section 85 of the Bihar reorganization act 2000, Madrassa board, Urdu Academy and Minority Directorate should be formed in Jharkhand along with the nomination of director in Minority finance development corporation.” the 8 pointer concern booklet reads
Emphasizing the Urdu language,the delegation highlighted that despite a government notification (6807 of 2007) declaring Urdu as the second state language, this directive has not been implemented. As per the notification, government offices, documents, land registrations, and notifications were supposed to include Urdu alongside Hindi. However, the Jharkhand government has yet to recruit Urdu translators in the past 23 years, raising concerns about compliance with the language policy and the representation of Urdu speakers in the state.
“At the same time, in the government notification 6807 year 2007, urdu was declared as the second state language, on the basis of which the names of the government offices, government documents, land registration, government rules and notification etc will be in urdu alongside of with Hindi language but this is not being followed, due to which jharkhand government has not yet taken up the recruitment of urdu translator in the last 23 years.” the booklet reads
According to the insights shared by Hussain with FoEJ Media, Last year, in 2022, the education department revoked the status of 543 Urdu primary and middle schools, reclassifying them as general schools without conducting a proper investigation. Additionally, the department abolished the Friday holiday, prompting significant concerns among the Urdu-speaking community regarding the impact on education and cultural practices. The delegates also raised concern about it.
“Last year in 2022, the education department, without proper investigation, took away the status of 543 urdu primary and middle schools and made them general schools and Friday holiday has been abolished.” the booklet reads
The provision of intermediate Urdu trained assistant teacher and assistant teacher mentioned in order 2 (1) of jharkhand state primary school teacher promotion rules 2024 will be a mortal cadre and no new appointment will be made on this post was condemned.
According to the reports the delegates also discussed that Due to the education examination of Madarsa Alim and Fazil being conducted by JAC board, the students passing are being deprived of government appointment and joining other state universities, so the examination of Alim and Fazil should be conducted by the university.
Due to the education examinations for Madrasa Alim and Fazil being administered by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), students who pass these exams are facing barriers to government appointments and admission to other state universities. The delegation urged that the examinations for Alim and Fazil be conducted by a university to ensure better recognition and opportunities for the students.
Muslim League Backs JMM-Led Alliance for November Elections in Jharkhand
The muslim league party will support the JMM Led alliance for the elections scheduled in november. In order to extend the support, all the five MPS of the party namely Sadiq Ali, AT Mohd Basir, Abdul Samba samdani, nawaz gani, abdul wahab along will party supremo will come to jharkhand and will attend all 5 phases of the election.
On speaking about elections, Shabaz told FoEJ Media that, “The Muslim League party has announced its support for the JMM-led alliance in the upcoming elections scheduled for November.”
“To bolster this support, all five MPs from the party—Sadiq Ali, A.T. Mohd Basir, Haris, Abdul Samba Samdani, Nawaz Gani, and Abdul Wahab—along with the party supremo, will travel to Jharkhand to participate in all five phases of the election” he further added.
“If the government collaborates with the Muslim League, Jharkhand would become the third state to have the Muslim League represented in the government,” stated Shahbaz on speaking to FoEJ Media
