Muslim Man Booked Under ‘Love Jihad’ Law in UP’ Meerut; Bride Rejects the Claims

Date:

A case has been registered against a Muslim man under Uttar Pradesh’s anti-conversion law ahead of the complaint by his fiancee’s uncle, who objected to their interfaith marriage. As per the reports, tension flared around the wedding as a protest unfolded objecting to the wedding of the couple identified as Akansha and Shehwaz, a Muslim man hailing from the Lisadi Gate area.

Objecting to the marriage, Akansha’s uncle registered a complaint against Sha at the Ganga Nagar police station. In his complaint, he alleged that Shehwaz misrepresented his identity as “Sahil” in the wedding invitation card.

Following this, Hindu organizations announced that a Mahapanchayat would be organized at the same venue. Leaders like Yati Narsinghanand and Hindu Surakssha Sangathan members were likely to come to the event.

Police and administrative officials said that a high alert was made to maintain law and order in the area.

Pinky Chaudhary, who was also going to attend and participate in the event but could not do so as she was placed under house arrest by Ghaziabad Police, said, “After calling people to reach Meerut, I have once again been put under house arrest by Ghaziabad Police. I appeal to all Sanatani warriors to attend the Mahapanchayat in large numbers and make up for my absence.”

Meantime, it is imperative to note that Akansha follows Buddhism. “Love jihad will only happen as long as it’s a Hindu-Muslim matter. I’m not even a Hindu; I’m a Buddhist,” she said, talking to media organizations.  “I follow Buddhism. I don’t even believe in goddess worship,” she added.

Akansha further revealed that she was marrying Sahabaz of her own will.  As per the reports, the groom’s nickname was Sahil, which was printed on Akansha’s wedding card.
