A mosque in Indore’s Mukeripura, Malharganj area was targeted by unidentified miscreants who hurled a petrol bomb inside the mosque premises on Friday night, causing minor damage to the building. The incident triggered panic and anger among the local residents, who staged a protest and demanded action against the culprits.
According to the police, the incident took place around 11 pm on Friday, when some miscreants, with their faces covered threw a petrol bomb at the Masjid-e-Madina located near the Malharganj police station.
The bomb hit the wall of the mosque and broke a window pane. No one was injured in the attack, as the mosque was empty at that time. The police reached the spot after receiving information from the locals and cordoned off the area.
CCTV footages from nearby shops and houses identified the suspects and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Explosive Substances Act.

The police say that they are investigating the motive behind the attack and whether it was linked to any communal tension or personal enmity. However, the incident has sparked outrage among the Muslim community, who accused the police of negligence and demanded strict action against the attackers.
The Muslim community in the area also alleged that this was not the first time that such an incident had occurred, and that they are facing harassment and threats from some anti-social elements in the area.
