Trump Vows to Attack More Iranian Infrastructure as Several Nations Seek to Open Hormuz

Date:

Following the spate of statements passed by US President Donald Trump amidst the ongoing war in West Asia, he said that the US “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran,” indicating vows to increase the attacks on Iran’s infrastructure. The statement comes ahead of the move by dozens of countries to seek ways to restart vital energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Taking to social media Trump, late Thursday, said the US military “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran.” Bridges next, then electric power plants.” Moving further, he said that Iran’s leadership “knows what has to be done and has to be done FAST!” Prior to this, he posted a video of the US bombing a newly constructed bridge of Tehran. According to the available data, eight people were killed and 95 others were injured in the US attack.

The satellite images surfacing on the internet showed smoke coming out from the port in Qeshm, an Iranian island located in the Strait of Hormuz. Following this, Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, “Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender,”

More than 100 American experts in international law on Thursday expressed grave concern over the conduct of US forces, warning that their actions, along with statements by senior officials, may constitute violations of international human rights and humanitarian law, including potential war crimes.

In a joint letter, the signatories pointed to remarks made in mid-March by former US President Donald Trump, who suggested that Washington could carry out strikes on Iran “just for fun,” raising alarm over the apparent disregard for legal constraints governing the use of force.

The letter also cited comments by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier in March, in which he stated that the US does not fight with “stupid rules of engagement,” a remark the experts said further highlights concerns about compliance with established international legal norms.

Meanwhile, the US president, on Wednesday night, delivered a speech, repeating his threats against Iran’s civilian power plants, giving no timeline for ending hostilities.

The Israel-US-Iran war, which started in late February earlier this year, has resulted in the killing of thousands of people and left tens of thousands injured in West Asia, with an alarming situation indicating that medical needs were rising beyond expectations and supplies could run low.
