The Rajasthan Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has issued notices to two British nationals, telling them to leave India, as allegedly they were found pasting posters with slogans protesting Israel’s military actions in Gaza, as reported by the PTI. As per the reports, the message included slogans like “Free Palestine, Boycott Israel.”
The duo was in India on tourist visas; however, the CID officials said that their actions violated visa conditions, which restrict foreigners from engaging in political activities.
Engaging in activities that show disrespect towards other countries while staying in India breaches visa norms,” Additional Superintendent of Police (CID) Rajesh Meena said.
Ahead of this, the notices were issued under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, telling the duo to leave India. Meantime, the posters were removed from public areas, and the police conducted checks in locations.
The notices were issued under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, directing the two to leave India. The posters were removed from public areas, and police conducted checks in locations. The posters were put up in areas frequented by foreign tourists to prevent similar incidents. Pushkar, a popular tourist destination, was among the locations where they appeared.
Officials said, as reported by the Maktoob, that no formal complaints had been received from tourists regarding the stickers. Following the intervention, the stickers were removed from public spaces, and police carried out checks in areas frequented by foreign tourists as a precautionary measure.
Authorities noted that engaging in political activities while on a tourist visa violates visa regulations and local norms, which led to action against the two individuals.
The global call for a free Palestine has intensified in the aftermath of Israel’s military offensive in Gaza since October 7, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 70,000 Palestinians, according to Palestinian authorities.
