Bengaluru police have launched a large-scale operation drive against the suspected illegal Bangladeshi nationals living in Bengaluru. The drive led to the detention of several people from different locations.
The first detention was made of eleven people from the K. Channasandra area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station.
The officials said that the alleged illegal people have been taken into custody while authorities check their records to confirm their nationality and legal status. The legal actions will be taken depending on the result of the verification process.
The action was undertaken as part of an intensified enforcement drive initiated by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh. Following his directive, senior officials oversaw a series of simultaneous searches in different areas of the city. The premises were selected based on specific information shared by local residents.
Searches were carried out in areas that fall within the jurisdictions of the Yelahanka and Bagalur police stations ahead of the same motive. In another raid, the police detained around 20 alleged illegal immigrants in the vicinity of the Bellahalli garbage point.
It has also been reported that during the preliminary inquiry, these individuals confessed that they hail from Bangladesh. Meanwhile, authorities have said that the investigations are underway.
It has also been reported by the police that the drive is conducted as a part of an ongoing effort to search and take action against foreign nationals who are living in the country without following the proper law. Moreover, the search will intensify in the coming days to search for and identify the people.
However, the investigation is still underway, and officials said that more details will be released once documents are verified.
Apart from Bengaluru, in Goa too, a drive has been conducted where authorities have deported six Bangladeshi nationals found without valid travel or immigration documents. This was conducted on Wednesday through a combined effort of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Goa, and the Broader Security Force (BSF), the officials reported.
Officials said the action was executed as per due process. The six individuals were escorted by a team from the FRRO, Goa, and formally handed over to the BSF for deportation to Bangladesh.
Police sources said that since 2025, the Goa Police’s Foreigners Branch has identified and deported 35 Bangladeshi nationals found to be staying illegally in the state, among them nine men, seven women, and 19 children.
Goa Police said it continues to act against cases of illegal entry and overstay in coordination with the FRRO and other concerned agencies.
Authorities have also appealed to the public to verify the documents of tenants and employees and to promptly inform the nearest police station or the Foreigners Branch about any suspicious cases.
