Three cattle transporters who were allegedly beaten by cow vigilantes near Aramghar crossroads on Tuesday, have been arrested and sent for judicial remand.
As reported by the Siasat.com, the driver, identified as Kaleem, 30, and his two helpers were charged under various sections of the Telangana Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977
The Siasat.com, further reports that two members of the outfit called Gau Raksha D. Two members of an outfit identifying itself as the Gau Raksha Dal Tiger Force, allegedly involved in the assault on the transporters, have been booked on charges of unlawful assembly, creating public nuisance, and assault. A court remanded both accused to judicial custody on Wednesday, February 25. Police said six other members of the group remain absconding.
The report further states that the truck was travelling from Nagpur in Maharashtra and was loaded with 13 cows and 47 bulls. The truck was on its way to the cattle market in Shadnagar and collided with a car near Pillar no 311, leading to a crowd that suspected the cattle were being taken to the slaughterhouse.
Hundreds of local residents, joined by members of the Gau Raksha Dal Tiger Force, allegedly confronted the driver and his two helpers, leading to a violent clash that left two of the men critically injured and another with minor injuries. Police said one cow died during transit.
According to the Sub-Inspector, the transporters were unable to produce a veterinary certificate or any documents related to the purchase or sale of the cattle
On learning of the incident, Police rushed to the spot, and dispersed the crowd, clearing traffic. Furthermore, they took the injured to the hospital and the cattle were sent to the Shri Samarth Kamdhenu Gaushala in Jiyaguda.
