A 22-year-old MBBS student, Ajit Singh Chaudhary, from Rajasthan’s Alwar, who went missing in Russia for at least three weeks, was found dead near a dam in Ufta city, his kin told FoEJ Media.
A medical student at Bashkir State Medical University in Ufa City, Ajit, on October 19, left his house in the morning and never came back.
A few days after his sudden disappearance, local authorities found his clothes, phones, and shoes near the White River, his family told FoEJ Media. Nineteen days later, Ajit’s body was recovered from a dam near the same river.
“It’s not confirmed yet whether it was a murder or a suicide—we still don’t know anything,” Ajit’s uncle Bhoom Singh said while speaking to FoEJ Media.
Spooked by Chaudhary’s disappearance, his family sought the intervention of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and urged the Alwar District Collector to liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs for assistance.
“We haven’t received any information yet from the Indian-Russian embassy. No post-mortem has been conducted, and we still don’t know what happened to him,” Bhoom Singh told FoEJ Media.
“The deceased’s clothes, mobile phone, and shoes were found by the riverbank. The family was extremely distraught upon hearing the news of the 22-year-old boy’s disappearance; the entire family had been making efforts and prayers for his safe return,” Congress leader Jitendra Singh Alwar said, taking to social media platform X.
“Today’s news of Ajit’s body being found in the river is utterly shocking. This is an extremely sorrowful moment for the Alwar family; in suspicious circumstances, we have lost a promising young boy. I express my deepest condolences to Ajit’s father, Roop Singh ji, mother, Santara Devi ji, and the entire family,” he posted yesterday on X.
“We also request that the necessary assistance be extended to the bereaved family to expedite formalities and bring their son home at the earliest,” the All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) said in a letter.
