MP: Woman Alleges Assault by BJP Functionary; Incident Caught on Camera, Case Filed

Date:

A local party worker of BJP allegedly assaulted a female beauty parlor owner in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, resulting in police registering a case and conducting an investigation, officials said.
The purported video of the incident shows the BJP local party worker reportedly assaulting a woman. The incident of the video made rounds on the internet.

Acting on the video, Satna district BJP general secretary Ramakant Gautam issued a show-cause notice to mandal president Pulkit Tandon, asking him to submit a reply within a week.

Naguad Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) Raghu Kesari said that the case has been registered against the accused based on the complaint filed by the 25-year-old woman.

According to the complaint, the woman threw Tandon’s mobile phone and attempted to flee the spot, following which the accused allegedly hurled a liquor bottle at her and attacked her.

The woman further alleged that the BJP functionary slapped her repeatedly and pushed her onto a bundle of iron rods lying on the ground. She claimed that when her family members intervened to rescue her, Tandon also assaulted them.

“The BJP Mandal president from Nagaud is assaulting a sister. The courage of BJP goons in Madhya Pradesh has increased so much that they are now assaulting sisters and daughters in broad daylight because they know under the BJP government, they will receive protection instead of facing action,” Sharing the video of the incident, state Congress president Jitu Patwari said.

“The hooliganism and shameful actions of BJP leaders in cases of women’s abuse continue to shame the state. This incident occurred in the Nagaud assembly constituency of Satna district, where a BJP leader is seen brutally beating a girl,” the AAP’s X handle posted.
