The Delhi Police’s crime branch has busted a major international arms smuggling racket with alleged links to Pakistan’s terrorist organization, the ISI. The four individuals, identified as Ajay, Mandeep, Dalvinder, and Rohan, have been arrested for procuring high-tech firearms from Pakistan using drones and eventually supplying them to gangs like the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Gogi gang, the Bambiha gang, and the Himanshu Bhau gang.
Officials confirmed that the Crime Branch recovered 10 foreign-made pistols and 92 live cartridges, manufactured in Turkey and China. The supply chain was coordinated from Pakistan, and these weapons were dropped in Punjab using drones.
“These weapons were being smuggled into India using drones from across the border. The traffickers were planning to deliver the consignment in Delhi,” an officer said.
“We had information that traffickers were arriving to hand over a large cache of weapons. Our team intercepted them and recovered modern firearms manufactured in Turkey and China,” the officer added.
Investigations are underway to track how many consignments entered India through this network and which gangs received them. To do so, mobile locations, bank transactions, and social media links are being checked, including those of foreign handlers.
The crackdown follows heightened security after the November 10 car explosion in Delhi. Security agencies are carrying out nationwide operations, with a focus on Delhi and the border states. Numerous raids are underway in Kashmir, targeting individuals suspected of aiding terrorism. Although investigators have not yet established a direct connection between this weapons network and the group responsible for the blast, police report that the smuggling route is definitively tied to prominent gangster syndicates.
