In a disturbing event, an Indian woman in a Reddit post alleged that she was physically assaulted and racially abused at a guest house in Seychelles and was left without support by local police. She says that this has left her deeply traumatized, and she frets about traveling in a foreign country. The incident took place on December 7 and was at Le Mangiler Guest House.
The woman alleged that while she was packing and preparing to leave, the hotel manager banged aggressively on her door and hurled racial slurs, including “go back to your country,” in what she described as a hostile and threatening manner.
“When I opened the door to ask for a couple of minutes, she hit me on the face and pushed me,” the woman wrote on her post.
She further claims that her experience with local law enforcement also left her disturbed, as the police did not register a proper complaint and demanded 1,000 Seychellois rupees.
“I was still explaining what had happened, but the lady police had already called the hotel woman. It scared the heck out of me,” she said.
“I was shaking, alone, and helpless,” she added.
According to the woman, no formal report was shown to her, no action was taken against the alleged attackers, and her injuries were not treated with due seriousness. She said she later approached Indian authorities at Mumbai airport but was told that the matter would have to be handled by the Seychelles police.
“I am still in shock and deeply traumatized by what happened to me, and this experience has honestly shaken me for life,” she said.
“We’re often raised to believe the world is a generally safe and fair place,” she said. “But this incident completely shattered that belief for me,” she said.
