In a barbaric incident, a man in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, has allegedly killed his wife and two younger daughters after being angered by his wife stepping out of home without wearing a burqa. The accused, identified as Farooq, has been arrested for the act.
The incident unfolded on December 10 in Ghari Daulat village under the Kandhla police station area. However, the truth was revealed on Tuesday.
The sequence of the incident, as per the police, starts when Farooq’s spouse, Tahira, went to her parental home and did not wear a naqab, which ultimately made her husband angry, leading him to become violent and commit the crime.
Tahira and her daughters, Afreen and Sehrin, were reported missing for nearly five days, prompting growing concern within the family. Their sudden disappearance raised suspicion, following which Farooq’s father approached the police, expressing fear of foul play.
Police said that during sustained interrogation, Farooq confessed to the killings. According to investigators, he admitted to shooting his wife, Tahira, and elder daughter, Afreen, while strangling his younger daughter, Sehrin. He allegedly buried all three bodies in a pit dug inside the courtyard of his house after the murders.
Probes have alleged that family disputes between husband and wife can be the reason for killing, but the investigation is still underway, the police said.
