A man identified as Ashok was reportedly arrested for allegedly placing detonators on the railway track near Moti Chur railway station. As told by a railway official, the detonators are called crackers and when they explode, they make a loud sound, which is a signal for an obstruction, fog or mist ahead.
As per the reports of the news agency PTI, CCTV footage showed a man moving suspiciously along the railway tracks. Senior Superintendent of Police Sarita Dobhal told PTI that the motive of the accused behind this is still not clear and the interrogation is underway.
As reported by The Week, the Haridwar Government Railway Police (GRP) received information from the Moradabad Railway Division’s control room about detonators lying on the railway track at Moti Chur Railway station. Meanwhile, A GRP team rushed to the spot and recovered the detonators..
As the incidents like these rise, railway Minister Ashwini said the investigations are underway in the cases indicating sabotage. “It’s a very sensitive issue, and we are conducting detailed inquiries into each and every incident. In several cases, a disturbing trend is being observed, which must be taken very seriously,” Ashwini said.
Additionally, Home Minister Amit Shah stated that any conspiracy aimed at causing railway accidents will be short-lived, and the government will soon announce an initiative to safeguard the 1.10 lakh km railway network nationwide.
“As far as accidents are concerned, we will investigate the root cause of this. Whatever the reason, the government is committed to addressing the issue. If this is a conspiracy, it will not last long. If there are gaps, they will be plugged,” Shah said.
Shah said the CBI, NIA, Railway Police and the Home Ministry were preparing a scheme for the protection of the railway network to ensure there is no sabotage.
Shah indicated that the CBI, NIA, Railway Police, and the Home Ministry are developing a plan to protect the railway network and prevent any instances of sabotage.
