With waves of onslaughts, hate speeches, and crimes descended on the Muslim minority community, a fresh assault has surfaced; this time, a Muslim gym owner is bearing its burns. A Muslim man, hailing from Meerut, has been hospitalized and booked ahead of an acquittal made by a Bajrang Dal member for concealing his identity while meeting a Hindu woman at a restaurant amidst Valentine’s week. The incident has triggered tensions in the city.
The roots of the incident started in the Madhavpuram area, which falls near the Brahmpuri police station limits. The man has been identified as Sufiya. In the week of Valentine’s Day, he had paid a visit to a restaurant on Sharda Road with a woman friend, apparently a Hindu woman. On getting cognizance of the meeting, the members of Bajrang Dal reached the spot.
The next scene of the event unfolds with the questions that Bajrang Dal launched, on which the male in the couple introduced himself as Rahul. However, his identity was later revealed as Sufiyan, following which an argument broke out inside the restaurant where Bajrang Dal members accused him of “love jihad.” As the tension snowballed, he was taken outside the restaurant and allegedly turned blue.
The third part of the incident reveals that the police from Barhmpuri station reached the spot on learning about the incident, and Sufiyan was taken into custody and shifted to the hospital; however, his medical condition has not been officially detailed.
Meantime, the reports have revealed that the woman was also brought to the police station for introspection of the event and questioning; furthermore, her family was informed and her statement was recorded.
Bajrang Dal members have filed a formal complaint against Sufiyan, with the accusation that he was trapping the Hindu woman in a relationship while concealing his real identity. On the basis of complaints, a case has been registered under relevant sections accounting for cheating and harassment.
Weeks before this incident, another gym trainer had borne the burns of the Banjrang Dal, but this time not for “love jihad” but for standing up for a Muslim man. Deepak Kumar, a gym trainer, stood up for a Muslim shop owner who was allegedly being assaulted on 26th January, 2026. The Bajrang Dal members, following this, reached their gym with abuse and slogans. The incident widely affected Deepak’s livelihood, reducing his gym membership count from 150 to 15. However, many social activists, lawyers, and supporters moved forward and helped Deepak to sustain his livelihood and helped him reach the membership count of 150 members.
