“Kill 100 of them in retaliation.” This is what Hindutva leaders Khushboo Pandey and Riddhima Sharma said at an event in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli, allegedly targeting Muslim and Christian minorities.
“If they kill two of yours, you kill 100 people in retaliation for peace.” Sharma, a social media influencer and content creator who focuses on speaking on the lynching of Bangladeshi Hindu Dipu Chandra Das, said,
“If they are making one Hindu girl run away, then you should make 100 of their girls run away,” she said, highlighting the ongoing Love Jihad theory in India.
Alongside Sharma, Pandey, widely known for making hate speeches against the minority communities, reiterated the “gobi farming” idea. The “gobi farming” is associated with the controversies, as it talks about the killings of Muslims in the 1988 Bhagalpur Violence.
The Bhagalpur violence claimed the lives of at least 116 Muslim men in Logain village of Bihar, and their bodies were buried in fields with cauliflower plants over them to conceal the evidence. Since the incident, the term “gobi farming” has been associated with controversies.
Netizens React, Online Debate Unfolded
The video of the incident surfaced online, flaring controversial debates and reactions from the netizens.
“This is a clear call for genocide and violence. It’s criminal hate speech and must be dealt with immediately under the law,” a user said.
While supporting the call, another user posted, “Whatever they say, there is nothing wrong I find in it. When you target and kill Muslims, Hindus, Christians, or Jews, you will also be targeted in the same way, and Hindus, Christians, and Jews will be killed in return.
What you give to society will return back in the same manner.”
Questioning the justice system, a user posted, “We all know no justice shall be delivered. The system is so biased.”
“Just spreading hatred—hatred—hatred has become these people’s professional business. Do these people even see or think about anything besides Muslims?” another user asked.
