The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Congress politician Rahul Gandhi and spanning 6,700 kilometres, ended in Mumbai’s Dadar, with Rahul’s sister, Congress national secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, joining in as it went through Dharavi.
Beginning on January 14, the yatra travelled across 16 states and 110 districts before ending at Babasaheb Ambedkar’s memorial, Chaityabhoomi, where Congress leaders paid their respects.
Priyanka emphasised the yatra’s mission, noting that it wanted to convey the truth about the country’s current status, focusing on the erosion of public awareness.
On the final leg, Rahul accused the BJP of collecting payments via electoral bonds, which they reportedly used to influence probes and destabilise opposition governments in Maharashtra, Goa, Manipur, and Arunachal.
“The largest corporations funnel funds to BJP via electoral bonds. When any of these companies come under scrutiny from agencies like the ED or the CBI, they offer financial support to the BJP. Consequently, investigations often seem to fade away without any substantial consequences. In this manner, they extort money,” he said.
The Gandhi siblings travelled in an open jeep with AICC officials KC Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala, symbolising their closeness to the people.
The yatra, which began in Manipur and ended in Mumbai after 63 days, will the end in a massive gathering at Shivaji Park, with politicians from various groups scheduled to attend.
