Nayab Singh Saini, 54, formally staked his claim to form the next government in Haryana on Wednesday after being unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party. Representing the OBC community, Saini succeeded Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister in March, marking a significant shift in the state’s leadership. Hours before his swearing-in ceremony, Nayab Singh Saini visited Valmiki Bhawan, where he offered prayers at a gurdwara and the Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula. Speaking to reporters, Saini expressed his commitment to advancing Haryana under the new BJP government, emphasizing that the administration would work at a rapid pace under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I want to thank the people of Haryana for showing trust in the double-engine government and the policies of Prime Minister Modi for the third time. In the coming times, our government will work under the leadership of PM Modi to take Haryana forward at a rapid pace,” he said on the assembly poll results.
BJP Secures Historic Third Term in Haryana, Saini Continues as Chief Minister
In the assembly elections held on October 5, the BJP achieved a historic third term in Haryana, winning 48 out of 90 seats. The Congress party followed with 37 seats. Breaking from tradition, the BJP had announced that Nayab Singh Saini would continue as Chief Minister if the party retained power, a decision that reflects the leadership’s confidence in Saini’s ability to guide the state forward.
