Hezbollah Announces a New Chief, Naim Qassem to Take Nasrallah’s Place

Naim Qassem has been named as the new Chief of the Lebanese organization Hezbollah a month after the assassinaton of Hassan Nasaarullh.  Naim Qassem has been the deputy of the organization ever since Nasrallah was assassinated.  Hezbollah says Naim Kassem will replace Hassan Nasrallah.

Despite the significant loss, Hezbollah has vowed to continue the implementation of Nasrallah’s policies aiming for ‘Victory.’  This adherence ensures continuity in the leadership and strategy of Hezbollah amidst escalating tension with Israel.

Who is Naim Qassem?

Naim Qassem the new Hezbollah Chief was born in the town of kfar Fila in southern Lebanon. He studied chemistry at the Lebanese University and after that he taught chemistry. Along with this, he pursued religious studies and participated in founding the Lebanese Union for Muslim Students.

In recent months, Qassem has been seen several times on television addressing the gatherings. His October 8th speech was the first high ranking hostilities intensified in September. It was the first high-ranking Hebollah official to publicly address the group after Nasrallah’s killing in an Israeli air strike since September 27.

In his address on September 30, Qassem highlighted Hezbollah’s dedication to choosing a new leader and reaffirmed the group’s ongoing resistance against Israel, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

He stated that Hezbollah would select a successor to its assassinated secretary general “at the earliest opportunity” and reiterated the group’s commitment to fighting Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians.

“What we are doing is the bare minimum… We know that the battle may be long,” he said in a 19-minute speech.
