Insha Mushtaq, 18, who had her vision taken away by pellets in 2016 accomplished a remarkable feat by passing her class 12 board exams with flying colors, the results of which were released yesterday.

Insha Mushtaq, a Shopian resident, and Mushtaq Lone’s daughter earned 319 points on the test.

Kashmir pellet sufferer Insha Mushtaq on completing the Class 12 exam, said that she did not allow hardship to lower her spirits. “First I wept, then I was happy,” she said further.

Insha, despite losing her sight at a young age, never let hardship bring her down or prevent her from pursuing her education.

Insha triumphed through pure tenacity and perseverance, demonstrating the incredible strength of the human soul. She claims, since the incident, she has encountered numerous problems; yet, she has persevered and overcome them all.

While recalling the eventful day of July 11, 2016, Insha said that “there were protests in her village against the security forces. I was sitting on the window, pallets hit my eyes and I was blinded”, she said.

Insha responded that her goal is to become an IAS officer and that she wants to acquire a bachelor’s degree first before preparing for the IAS exam.

She stressed that Kashmir needs special educational facilities for those with disabilities. Everyone confronts problems in life, she gave her message to all people with disabilities, but it’s important to learn how to deal with them and lead an independent life.

Insha’s family members also expressed their happiness for her and expressed gratitude to everyone who had helped her thus far. Online users applauded her shortly after the news surfaced, sharing images and referring to her as an inspiration for everyone.

“MY MESSAGE FOR YOUTH IS TO FACE THE CHALLENGES IN LIFE COME WHAT WAY,” she said.
