Pain is still nestled in the lanes of Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida’s Haldoni village, with kins and friends stationed outside the house of a six-year-old girl, Alina, who was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and murdered on 28 August. Following the incident, the police, while recreating the incident, launched an encounter and killed the accused. The accused identified as Balraj was accused in two previous rape cases.
The courtyard of the house, however, remained blanched in barbarity.“He lured my daughter away. I saw on the camera footage that he was taking my child away with him,” the girl’s mother told FoEJ Meida while howling in pain
“We searched a lot for her, but she wasn’t there. We looked everywhere,” she said.
“Then we checked the camera footage, and she was visible in it,” she added.
Police later scanned footage from a CCTV camera near the entrance of the lane. The footage showed the child was playing, and a man was spotted in it who later was identified as a friend of the relative of the girl.
“The camera footage showed him taking the child away, luring her away,” the mother said.
While questioning the suspect, it was learned that the lifeless, still-bleeding body of the girl was thrown near a pond in the village.
“I don’t know how my daughter must have died. I never imagined that something like this could happen to my child,” the mother said, with a voice trembling with the pain.
“When we found out, we were completely devastated,” the girl’s father added with sobs.
Standing a foot away from them was a relative who gave the last bath to the body before it was put in the grave. Revealing the condition of the body, she said, “Blood was coming from her ears and her hands too. She was bleeding from everywhere. It became difficult to perform her ghusl (ritual washing of the body).”
“My heart aches when I think about what happened to my daughter,” she added.
“It looked as though her legs had been grabbed and she had been slammed against a wall,” the relative explained.
“It looked as though she had been crushed with bricks.” another relative added.
The suspect confessed to the crime and told the police that he had hidden the weapon that was used in the crime in bushes near the D-Park outpost. However, when he was taken to the spot, the suspect pushed the police personnel and opened fire at them using the pistol he hid in the area.
“During the interrogation, the accused revealed he lured the girl when most of the residents of the village were asleep. He took her to his landlord’s second house, where he raped her and stabbed her to death. Police recovered the body and found bruises all over her face, neck, limbs, and private parts. He killed her and then left her body in the field,” said an officer to The Print.
“He had no remorse. When asked about the rape of children, he first tried to mislead us but later admitted that he raped the girl. The 6-year-old was brutally assaulted; her private parts sustained severe injuries, and she was covered in blood when her body was recovered,” a police source told The Print.
The police said that the girl was killed using a knife after she was raped. The suspect allegedly told police that he had hidden the weapon used in the crime in bushes near the D-Park police outpost, but when he was taken to the area, he pushed the police personnel and opened fire at them with a pistol he had hidden there.
“On Saturday night, he was taken to the area [where he had dumped the body] for the second time. The knife he used to kill the girl was recovered from the shrubs at his instance,” DCP Singh said, as reported by the Indian Express.
“While coming back, he pushed an officer, took out a pistol he had hidden in the bushes there, and fired at the police team. One of the officers sustained a gunshot injury. Police fired in retaliation, and the accused was hit by a bullet. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead,” he added.
“One policeman was injured in the firing. In retaliatory firing in self-defense, the accused was also injured. The police immediately rushed the accused and the injured constable to the hospital for treatment. During treatment, doctors declared the accused dead, while the injured constable is undergoing treatment,” DCP Singh said, as reported by the Hindustan Times.
After spending eight years behind bars from 2017 to 2025 in cases of rape and murder, Balraj was released on bail in 2025, the print reported.
“He was a serial rapist. A pervert. He would prey on the most vulnerable, ones who could not overpower him or defend themselves. Which is why he targeted elderly and children and even animals,” a police source said, as reported by the Print.
Meanwhile, the girl’s body was sent for a postmortem examination, and a panel of doctors has been established to conduct the examination, and a case has been registered under sections 65 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the BNS, along with relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, police said.
The month of August saw yet another gang rape case where a 16-year-old was raped on a moving bus in Greater Noida on August 4 after the girl boarded an empty bus to go to Noida Sector 63.
The driver and conductor allegedly raped the girl inside the bus and abandoned her near the Kashmere Gate bus terminal the same night and fled.
“On the night of August 4, a 17-year-old girl came to Kashmere Gate Police Station and reported that she had been raped on a bus in Noida. During questioning, it was found that the girl was travelling from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, to her relative’s house in Sector 63, Noida. She was raped while travelling from Pari Chowk, Greater Noida, to Sector 63, Noida. Considering the sensitivity of the case and in accordance with the new criminal laws, Kashmere Gate Police immediately arranged for the victim’s medical examination and registered a case without getting into jurisdictional issues. With the help of CCTV cameras, the police traced the bus within a few hours and arrested both accused,” the Police said.
