Mumbai Bus Crash: Death Toll Reaches 6, 49 Injured in Kurla BEST Accident

The death toll in the tragic bus accident rose to six, with 49 others sustaining injuries in Mumbai, the official confirmed on Tuesday.  The accident took place on Monday night at 9:50 PM when a bus rammed into pedestrians and vehicles along SG Brave Marg. An FIR was registered and driver Sanjay More was apprehended. 

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) bus was on its way towards Andheri when it lost control. As per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the bus collided with 30-40 vehicles before crashing into the RCC column and breaking its compound wall.

Furthermore, the BEST highlighted in a statement that the bus services on routes would be affected due to it. Buses on routes 37, 320, 319, 325, 330, 365, and 446 will operate from Kurla depot and buses on routes 311, 313, and 318, which normally travel from Santacruz to Kurla station, will be diverted via Tilak Nagar. The BEST added that the bus on Route 310 will take a detour via Tilak Nagar Bridge, heading to Bandra bus station. 

As per the details shared by BMC, the injured have been admitted to various hospitals. 35 injured were reported at Bhabha Hospital in Kurla. The official said the two were pronounced dead at the scene and two others succumbed to their injuries after admission. 

The details further reveal that at Kohinoor Hospital, three injured were admitted, out of these, one died during treatment and two others are critical. Furthermore, Seven Hills Hospital confirmed that the four injured police officers in its care are in stable condition. Additionally,  Habib Hospital has reported one fatality and five patients admitted with injuries.
