A distressing video of an incident of alleged assault from Karad has made rounds on the internet, triggering social media outrage. The video shows two Muslim men reportedly assaulted by members of a self-styled cow vigilante mob while transporting buffaloes legally.
The victims are identified as Wali Mohammad Shabbir and Rehan Quraishi, who hail from the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Assembly constituency in Mumbai. As per the accounts of the victim, the incident took place near the Ambe Village police station area in Karad, where a group of people, allegedly belonging to Bajrang Dal, stopped their vehicles while they were transporting buffaloes legally. They further allege that the group forcibly detained them and eventually assaulted them by beating them severely. The assault did not stop here. They were forced to eat cow dung amidst the slogans against their Lord, Allah, and Holy Book, the Quran.
The victims claim that the attack was triggered by religious hatred and they were targeted based on their identity. Following this, the victim approached the local police station, where the station in charge refused to register an FIR.
This comes ahead of the incidents across India where Muslims from four different states belonging to different age groups have been killed within the span of just one week.
