Respite From Scorching Heat For Delhi As Rain Lashes Parts Of Capital

A fresh spell of showers lashed in parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram, bringing respite after scorching heat on Thursday morning. “Light to moderate-intensity rain and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of a few places in Delhi during the next two hours,” the IMD said in a post on X at 7:30 AM.

Safdarjung, a representative of Delhi’s weather, recorded a trace amount of rain until 8:30 a.m., according to IMD.Visuals shared by the news agency ANI showed heavy rainfall in Munirka, Sarita Vihar, and other parts of the national capital, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more showers during the day.

As reported by the PTI, a wall in the area of Vasant Kunj collapsed amid heavy showers, and no one was injured. We are investigating the matter. CCTV footage shows no one was around when the wall collapsed,” a senior police officer told PTI.

IMD PREDICTION

In its monsoon bulletin on Wednesday evening, the IMD said conditions were favorable for the southwest monsoon to advance into “the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh; some more parts of Rajasthan; remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar; most parts of East Uttar Pradesh; some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh; some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muffarabad, the northern parts of Punjab, and the northern parts of Haryana during the next four days.”

As predicted by the weather agency for June 27, the maximum temperature will be 38 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be 29 degrees Celsius. The IMD also predicted very light rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds. On June 28, the forecast includes light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with temperatures similar to the previous day and wind speeds reaching up to 35 km/h.

The weather on June 29 is expected to be slightly cooler, with a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C. The city will likely experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h. On June 30, temperatures will drop further to 34 °C, with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds.

The IMD prediction for July 1 and 2 is a thunderstorm with moderate rain with temperatures steady at a high of 34°C and a low of 27°C. Wind speeds will continue to vary, maintaining a range of 25–35 km/h.
