Two teen students of Ashram school allegedly died by suicide by hanging themselves from a tree at their educational facility in Wada taluka of Maharashtra’s Palghar district, police said on Thursday.
As per the reports, the incident unfolded during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, and no suicide note was found at the spot; the reason behind this remains oblivion.
One victim was 14 years old, a student of standard 9, and the other was 15, a student of standard 10, Senior Inspector Datta Kindre of the Wada police station and Jawahar’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Sameer Maher told news agency PTI.
The incident came to light in the wee hours of Thursday, after which the police were informed and the bodies were reportedly taken to a government hospital for postmortem.
Both the victims reportedly used nylon ropes meant for dyeing clothes to hang themselves from a tree located on the campus of the Asham school run by the government in Ambiste village.
The victims belong to Mokhada taluka in the district, around 80 km from their ashram school. A case has been reportedly registered, and an investigation into the case is underway.
